Jar of Question - Part 14

Back to a journal in a jar. The slip reads - Do I remember a special birthday party I had or had been to or gave?
As I grew up at home I do not remember eny birthday party I had. I really can't remember my mother or family giving me a party. We really didn't expect one - but it seems like we'd have birthday cakes with candles on them so I'm sure all of us was remember on our birthday in one way or other. After Joan + I was married thats when the real birthday partys was given and Joan knew how to give a real party. When I was going to school at Alma School I was riding the bus home and Carol Slandage was having a birthday party and it seemed like everyone was going to her house for the party and she and the others said come on and go with us so I did. It was a good party but when the gifts was opened I didn't have one for her but she said thats alright enyway. But it made me feel bad.

The party I gave with Vona and Lees help at the house right after they was married and lived up by the temple, I was going with a girl I liked named Alice Dodge who lived over by Pearl + Billy. She said she had never had a party so I guess thats why I did it. It was a surprise party + I got a 1955 Chevy model car and I was working at T + S Motors and got one of there old titles and the girl in the office changed the name on the title to Alice Dodge and in the presents we wrapped the title up so she thought she was getting a real car when she opened the title present but later she opened the present with the little car in it but she was still very happy enyway. Vona really helped put on a nice party and I appreciated that. But you know, every party we go to theres something special about all of them - one way or another.

Tell about one of the worst storms I've been in.
I really don't know of the worst storm? As kids we used to look forward to seeing the dust clouds coming our way at the old house. We was raised in. We would like to be out in them when they hit and run around crazy like and when the sprinkles would start + turn to a real down pour (if they did). We loved the rain especially during summer when it was so hot and enjoy getting soaking wet. But we worryed about the storm ruining the cotton crop also. But I think Papa did most of the worrying about that. That cotton crop is what feed us and kept us going. I think the closes thing to a real storm (bad one) was when Joan + I was back on a trip to Ohio and we drove thru the back country and noticed all the trees + bushes had just been blown down and it was stormy looking. But when we stopped at a store he asked us why was we out driving. He said a tornado had just went thru and everyone was supposed to be taking cover. Dumb us - we just didn't know.
